- GIRLS AND BOYS BASKETBALL: Waverly and Norris Split In Exciting Matchups

FIRTH---Class B No.1 Waverly girls basketball team found themselves on the ropes heading into the fourth quarter Friday night at Norris.
The Vikings mounted a 21-2 scoring run to come back and earn a 48-42 win over the Titans to stay undefeated at 9-0.
All it took was a full court press for Waverly to force traps and turnovers. Tyza Hoos scored with one minute left in the game to give the Vikings their first lead at 44-42. Then Sydni Schernikau got a steal to give the ball back to Waverly with 22 second remaining.
After a time out, Schernikau and Alex Danson each hit a pair of free throws to seal the win.
NORRIS BOYS 48, WAVERLY 46
A game-winning layup with 1.2 seconds left from Jay Knudsen gave the Titans the two-point victory to improve to 2-8 on the season.
Norris rallied back from a 14-point deficit in the second quarter to earn the win. Knudsen led the Titans with 14 points, while Harrison Boe added 10.
Waverly was led by Noah Stoddard, who had a game-high 20 points, while Ben Carter added 12 in the loss.
